The technician, seated at a table, moves his arm forward as he reaches for the Subaru-branded hat and places it on his head. Surrounded by his family, they hover above him, holding each other closely as they wait to see his intention. His instructors stand off to the side as the step and repeat banner towers behind the scene. His smile is beaming ear-to-ear as he lifts up his pen and strikes it on the contract before him. He is now officially a full-time service technician at Spangler Subaru.

At the end of May, we had the privilege of offering contracts to three automotive mechanical students at the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center (GJCTC). These three students, Caden, Lucas, and Devin, have been working in our service department to further hone their craft in between their high school and GJCTC shop studies. They have moved from practice, to putting their skills into action by first learning about Subaru engines, to independently and adequately performing Express services for our customers. These include, but are not limited to, oil changes, tire rotations, multi-point inspections, brake inspections, and so much more!

Chances are, if you have stopped by for Express service in the past six months, one of these three worked on your Subaru. They have even shadowed our full technicians performing much more complex repairs when the Express Service shop was slow. All three men have cut their teeth and are ready for a new career straight out of high school.

On Tuesday, May 27th, we gathered with these three technicians, their instructors, and many other students from varying fields at the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center to offer them contracts for full-time employment at Spangler Subaru. All three were gathered by family members and supporters as they chose their intentions to work for us. The signing ceremony mirrored that of high school athletes committing to colleges, and added some excitement for the students at GJCTC as they prepare for their futures. We are thrilled to have these bold, new technicians on our team and cannot wait to give them the support and training they need to continue advancing in their field!
