Spangler Subaru Sponsors Outstanding Young Woman Contestant
Since its inception in 1999, the Cambria & Somerset Outstanding Young Woman Scholarship Program has fueled education opportunities for young women in the dual county area. Each year, the governing board selects a handful of sophomore and junior high school students who display exemplary performance through an interview with the board, a performance arts routine, and hold an impressive grades transcript.
Throughout the course of the program, contestants will participate in various fundraisers, rehearsals, interviews, and a kick-off event. These activities help build self-confidence and individual growth, as well as allow the ladies opportunities to improve public speaking, interview skills, and time management. The program culminates with the crowing of two winners – one for Cambria County and one for Somerset County.
Contestants, however, do not leave empty handed. Outside of the professional growth they develop, over $20,000 worth of cash scholarships will be awarded. On top of this, local and regional colleges, such as University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, St. Francis University, St. Vincent College, and Mount Aloysius College, will also hand out scholarships of their own.
Spangler Subaru is proud to sponsor Julia Bauer, a contestant of Outstanding Young Woman in Cambria County. Entering her junior year of high school, Julia will be attending Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, Georgia. She will be studying Fashion Marketing & Design. Already taking the first steps into her creative career path, she has modeled prom and formal dresses, jewelry, and now, a 2025 Subaru Outback Wilderness. Recently, we invited her to the dealership to capture some poses with our inventory. It was very apparent that her ambition and professionalism is beyond her years, and she will be a valuable asset in the fashion industry for years to come. We wish Julia congratulations in her success and good luck in the competition, which begins on October 26th!
