On January 2nd, 2024, we wrapped up the Subaru Share the Love® Event with a local charity partner for the 11th straight year. At the end of every year, from mid-November through December, shoppers who purchase a new Subaru from us have the option to send a $250 donation to their choice of one of four national charities, or a local non-profit selected by Spangler Subaru. This donation is payable by Subaru of America, Inc., and, for every new Subaru sold, Spangler Subaru then donates $75 to our chosen non-profit, as well as $5 for every qualifying repair order during the event.

Many Subaru drivers are well-attuned to the outdoors, and in recent years many of you have noticed new, exciting outdoor recreational projects brought to life, as well as the restoration of natural habitats – notably remediation for many of the area’s acid mine drainage issues. Conemaugh Valley Conservancy (CVC) has their hands in many of these projects, whether directly or indirectly, and it was a perfect match to select the organization as our local charity partner for the Subaru Share the Love® Event.

We presented a check for $18,733 to the conservancy during the organization’s annual meeting in May, hosted at the Heritage Discovery Center. There, we learned about upcoming projects in the pipeline. CVC continues to work towards plans to install an access point from the Inclined Plane ticket booth down to the Stonycreek River below, recently receiving a grant to close acid mine drainage portals along that section of river. The Conemaugh Gap Gateway Park, which is where the LOVE Wildflower Garden is located, also received a grant to build a lookout within the park, and this will serve as one leg of an extensive birding trail that is also in the works. The Stream Team continues to monitor water quality that ensures remediation projects are successful, and a proper ecosystem is returning to the area’s rivers.

These projects and commitment to our local biodiversity are just a few reasons why Spangler Subaru has partnered with CVC, and we are pleased to have such a dynamic relationship with an important community organization.
